Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: popular questions

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is an AI chatbot from OpenAI that uses a large language model to answer questions, draft and edit text, summarise documents, explain concepts and help with code in a conversational way.

What is artificial intelligence (AI)?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is technology that lets computers perform tasks that normally need human intelligence, such as understanding language, recognising images, making predictions and solving problems.

What is machine learning?

Machine learning is a branch of AI where computers learn patterns from data and improve over time, instead of following only fixed, hand-written rules. Spam filters and product recommendations use it.

What is generative AI?

Generative AI creates new content, such as text, images, code, audio or video, based on patterns learned from large amounts of data. Chatbots like ChatGPT and image generators are examples.

How does AI work?

Most modern AI is trained on large datasets so it learns patterns. When you give it a prompt or input, it uses those patterns to predict a useful output, such as a reply, label or forecast.

What are AI agents?

AI agents are software systems that use AI to pursue a goal for you. They can plan steps, use tools such as email, calendars or databases, and take actions with limited supervision, rather than only answering questions.

What is agentic AI?

Agentic AI describes AI systems built to act on their own toward goals, planning multi-step tasks, using tools and adapting as they go. Because they act, they need clear limits, permissions and human oversight.

Internet and Web: popular questions

What is my IP address?

An IP address is a number that identifies your device or network on the internet. To see your public IP, search "what is my IP" or use an IP-lookup website. On Windows, run ipconfig to see your local IP.

What is a URL?

A URL (uniform resource locator) is the web address of a page or file, such as https://example.com/about. It includes the protocol, the domain name and often a path to a specific page.

What is latency vs bandwidth?

Bandwidth is how much data a connection can carry at once, measured in Mbps. Latency is the delay before data starts to arrive, measured in milliseconds. Streaming needs bandwidth; calls and gaming need low latency.

What is an SSL certificate chain?

An SSL/TLS certificate chain links a website's certificate to a trusted root authority through one or more intermediate certificates. Browsers follow it to confirm the site is genuine. A missing intermediate certificate causes trust errors.

How to create a website?

Define your goal, register a domain name, choose hosting or a website builder, design your pages, add clear content and contact details, then test on mobile and publish. Add SEO basics so people can find you.
